Aurelia’s 10th Hatchday

Club Real is…

…a STEAMish Club of families and friends engaging in various kinds of fun and enriching activity. Something’s happening monthly. Games and food happen. We’re trying to organize the shortest FIRST LEGO League robotics team in Colorado. Maybe some movie making down the road. Oh, and…

…we have a layer of pretending we’re part of an intertemporal Mega-tribe of Aspiringly Effective, Reasonable and Fun Earth humans. Our clubhouse is a SuperHero-Artist-Agent training facility working in a last ditch effort to save all of multi-universal existence.

If you’re not down with all that,

we question your commitment to fun.

steamHouse is…

…..a Club Real family STEAM club with connected cousin Club Ideal creating mentoring curriculum and more

Host Clan Hello

Club Real

The most impactful lesson for any human is the understanding that we have an automatic mode  of thinking that we use nearly all the time.  Mostly it works but it is subject to biases and incomplete, faulty logic.  By applying effort, our conscious thinking mode gives a more rigorous consideration with a greater context in mind.

In the stress and distraction of life, where resources and time are limited, we have an understandable bias toward first thoughts, the familiar and the actions we ultimately must take to have any effect.  But that bias short circuits our brilliance as thinking and creating Homo sapiens.  We have ability to consider our Purpose and Possibility with more novelty and potential effect, and that is our SuperPower.

Club Ideal is…

a ten year project developing elements of a team and project based, parent supported mentoring club model.

The core of it is a universal style schema on best practices in thinking, relationship and fitness.

Club Ideal also imagines a science-fiction Hogwartsian environment where more memorable characters, vocabulary, examples and metaphors might augment the delivery of schema lessons.

There is pedagogical credential in developing curricular storylines, but at present, less credentials in dramatic storyline creation and production.

Our “Orlo Lore” imagines a trans-temporal Mega-tribe, or SuperGroup of aspiringly Effective, Reasonable and Fun individuals. Connected by an interstitial time-space of Earth timelines, this well respected group is composed of hominids, cephalopodians and dragonians (among others) who have evolved to consciousness in their own independent timelines. They have sent Orlo E. Goshwilder to us, in the hopes that one of us with the Fairmount steamHouse—in our training and efforts as SuperHero-Artists-Agents—will be the key to saving all of multi-universal existence.

Recruiting 6-10+ y.o. to create Colorado’s shortest FIRST LEGO League Robotics Team.

The 2024 Gourd Gala will be Saturday, October 28

The Fairmount steamHouse is a family and friend STEAM & social pod cooperative…in association with a developing model for a universal styled, project-based, parent driven, mentoring club.

Club Real- A real club of humans

Club Real is a family cooperative STEAM and social club. Focused now on families with someone 5 to 9 years old. Well behaved and parent monitored other sibs welcome. LEGOs, gourds, goats and nerdy fun guaranteed. Fee free and legally equivalent to a playdate.

Club Ideal- An ideal club of humans

Club Ideal is a curriculum development project creating a model for a universal styled, project-based, parent driven mentoring club. Thinking on thinking, relationship skills and fitness are emphasized.

The Fairmount steamHouse is two complementary cousin “clubs”—a real and tangible club for families and friends, and a fictional “ideal” club as the setting and delivery device for a developing curriculum on thinking about thinking, relationship and fitness, and eventually (2034) an accompanying proposal for a “universal styled” project-based mentoring club. Club Real and Club Ideal have levels of shared space, activity, ethos and lore.

Club Real is largely focused on, but not exclusive to families with preschoolers and young gradeschoolers. Gatherings are a mix of food, play, and mini-lessons on plants, animals, games, and sometimes pretending to be a kind of superhero. The two acre site has a dedicated clubhouse, community garden, a cat, a dog, a donkey, goats, a fish pond, and grassy game field. Topical Themes, described as “clubs within the club”, include naturalist & gardening, engineering (LEGO robotics), art & music, and drama clubs—these will most often be inch deep explorations, with depth developing over years. Also over time, Cognitive Themes like self control, purpose, paradigm, practice, strategy, learning, grit, habit, reflection, etiquette, and good data modeling will have emphasis—to the degree activity and time allow. Club Real is a family and friend cooperative with the legal structure of organized playdates. Small donations are welcome but all activity is free.

Club Ideal is the setting for an idealized “universal” curriculum focusing on basics of using one’s head, heart and body (metacognition, relationships, health). In 11 years time, upon our kids’ graduation, combining the curricular design work, and the experience of Club Real, a follow on project proposal (Club 2034+) will be made for a universal styled mentoring club, hopefully with some global application. A sci-fi story lore provides landscape for example, and emotional and personal connection for a curriculum otherwise intentionally generic and abstract.
